Practical Experience for Promoted and Non-Promoted Engineers

This all-day session will include experience in driving, pumping, aerial operations, and Commercial Driver's License (CDL) inspections. We will practice pumping to multiple hose lines, relay pumping, and using new appliances. Driving practice will include street driving, a driving course, and proper placement of vehicles at the emergency scene.

Aerial operations will include proper placement and set-up of the aerial. The CDL segment will include inspections of the engine, transmission, hydraulic systems, and other components of DOT requirements.

This session will improve your knowledge and skill level as an engineer. No prior experience is required.

This workshop is limited to 12 attendees, and is full. You may ask to be put on the waiting list in case spaces open up, but we recommend you also choose an alternate workshop or workshops for this session.

About the faculty: Instructors for this session will include Teresa Ackerman, who has been a firefighter with the Aurora (Colorado) Fire Department for six years. She has been an engineer for two years, and works at one of the busiest engine companies in the city. Aurora FD is known for its highly qualified drivers, due to an excellent acting engineer program and continuing education for certified drivers, all of whom must retain a CDL.
